Bert is one of the true Pioneers of digital art. An educator, bestselling author, published artist, and the groundbreaking master of photo-realistic painting in Photoshop.

His amazing digital paintings look like they're actually photographs, but Bert is much more than an artist, as an accomplished educator, Bert has served on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts in New York; the Center for Creative Imaging in Maine; the California College of Arts and Crafts, and the San Francisco State University as well as many other educational institutions in Europe and Asia.

Prior to becoming a digital artist and educator, Bert spent 20 years in the Advertising Industry, as an Art Director and Creative Director for a number of different agencies as well as his own. 

With the introduction of the Macintosh Computer in 1984, Bert became a pioneer in digital art and quickly became one of the most published computer artists. 

Bert was using Photoshop even before it was called Photoshop; nearly a year before the program was purchased by Adobe, and he immediately adopted it as his tool of choice for his commercial work and digital painting. 

As an Alpha tester for Adobe, his input into early versions helped lay the groundwork for that would propel Photoshop into the amazingly powerful tool that it has become today. 

When Adobe Systems released the first version of Adobe Photoshop, Bert co-wrote the first Photoshop book; "The Official Adobe Photoshop Handbook." It was a long-term bestseller and the only book on Photoshop for almost two-years.

Having co-authored numerous books in 2000, Bert released his first solo book called "Bert Monroy: Photo-realistic Techniques with Photoshop and Illustrator." His follow-up book was "Photoshop Studio with Bert Monroy" which was followed by "Commercial Photoshop with Bert Monroy."

Since 2001 he has made countless television appearances worldwide and is a monthly regular on the Tech TV show, The Screensavers, sharing his unique brand of tips and techniques with viewers in every part of the globe.

Bert has traveled the world demonstrating the techniques he's developed in the creation of his digital paintings and fine homes and museums throughout the world are graced by his works.

Because Bert's paintings look like photographs, he's often been asked, "Why doesn't he just take a photograph instead?" For him, it is not the destination that is important, it's the journey.and the incredible challenge of recreating reality remains his motivation. 

It's for Bert's contributions to the art and development of Photoshop that we honor him with this induction into the Photoshop Hall of Fame.
